Bed bug reports

Be aware of possible bed bugs!!! We were aware that this type of accommodation would not be particularly comfortable. It was chosen as a special birthday experience for our son. We expected simple conditions, uncomfortable beds and shared sanitary facilities, and we did not have a problem with that. However, bed bugs are not acceptable. After reporting the issue to the accommodation by email, I received a reply apologising for the bites I had “may have experienced” and stating that I should have informed the staff directly on site. They stated that they “will perform a whole check”, which I truly hope they will do thoroughly and seriously. For other guests: A typical sign of bed bug bites is multiple bites in one area, often appearing in a line or row. I personally had more than 40 bites on my legs, arms and face. This was exactly the pattern I later noticed and only afterwards learned to be characteristic of bed bugs.

The only downside to our visit was finding a bedbug the morning we we’re leaving. The staff were very alert about it though.

Vibe Analysis
Train Lodge Amsterdam is a sleeping-train hostel beside Sloterdijk station. The train setting is the main draw, and it makes travel into central Amsterdam and toward Schiphol straightforward. Cabins are very small, with stacked bunks, limited headroom, and little space for bags. Upper bunks can be hard to reach, and some rooms can feel warm, stuffy, or noisy. Shared bathrooms and toilets are basic, and cleanliness or maintenance can vary. Staff are sometimes friendly and helpful, but the setup is best for a short, novelty-driven stay rather than comfort.
