Bed bug reports

Hubieron un poco de chinches de cama en las últimas noches y un mosquito la primera noche. No recomiendo dejar la ventana abierta de noche o de tarde para que no entren los mosquitos.

Staff are lovely and helpful, but considering we found large bed bugs and the place was fairly grubby we would never go back. Ruined our stay and had to leave Florence early costing us more.

I’m writing a review on here because they have blocked people writing reviews on HostelWorld. The ONLY good things I can say about this hostel is the location and how social it is. I paid 100EURO a night almost 7 months in advance for a rundown, old, dusty room, with a bed I couldn’t even sleep well in cause the mattress was horribly hard. This hostel had almost 10 star reviews on HostelWorld, and I don’t understand why. I have been travelling for 5 weeks, all in hostels, and this was by far the worst room and mattress, leaving extremely tired. Shower wasn’t great, didn’t have any cold water, I had to have boiling hot showers which isn’t nice after a long day walking around. I also rocked up to the hostel with the previous persons sheets still on the bed with my sheets thrown on top, I had to ask for a new pillow case and one more sheet 2 mins after check in. Bed lamp didn’t work, mirror in the bathroom was faded, shower didn’t close properly, aircon is placed above the bunks so no cold air hits the bottom bunks, my friend had bed bugs in his bed and the breakfast was mediocre at best. I do not recommend and I will not be staying here again.

It's close to the station, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast and other services are good. But there is a bedbug. I can’t sleep and walk. Please check your bed before you go to bed.

Overall was a great stay, it’s a very social hostel – they do events every day and it’s good place to meet people. I enjoyed my stay – the only issue was that on my last day when I was checking out, I noticed that I found a bedbug on my pillow. I had to clean everything and was a bit paranoid for the few days afterwards. I did notify the staff and they said that they would rectify it immediately, but I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t offered any sort of compensation for the fact that I’ve been sleeping

¡CUIDADO CHINCHES!

Great location for a hostel, friendly staff, everything was good except my partner and I got bed bug bites from separate bunk beds in a mixed dorm. Definitely would not recommend which is a shame because everything else is great.

I liked the hostel, perfect when you have work to do. But, I can't say for sure but I think there were bedbugs in my room. I'm really sensitive about their bites. So I'm really sorry to write that kind of review. Other than that it's a nice hostel.

Vibe Analysis
A shared kitchen with free basics like pasta, tomato sauce, oil, spices, tea, and coffee gives Ostello Bello Firenze a useful budget move in central Florence. The terrace adds a place to sit outside when it is available, and the downstairs bar gives the hostel a built-in social base. The location is the clearest win here: close to Santa Maria Novella station, walkable to the historic center, and handy for getting around Florence without losing time to transit. It works especially well for short city trips, train-heavy plans, and travelers who want Duomo access without sleeping far out. This is a loud, young, high-traffic hostel with a bar inside the building. Karaoke, game nights, free pasta nights, welcome drinks, and other evening activity can make it easy to meet people, but rooms near the bar or street can get noisy late. The setup suits social travelers and heavy sleepers more than anyone looking for a quiet stay.
Signals to check
- Rooms and bathrooms can feel worn, with recurring problems around odors, leaks, broken fixtures, weak air conditioning, cold or overly hot rooms, and inconsistent cleaning.
- Sleep can be rough: bar music, karaoke, street noise, hallway noise, and late arrivals can carry into rooms.
- Dorm beds may lack privacy curtains, and triple bunks can be awkward, especially on upper levels.
- Breakfast, towels, lockers, laundry, luggage storage, and other basics may cost extra or feel underwhelming for the price.
- Service and communication can be uneven, including check-in issues, unclear amenity access, app-based door access, deposit disputes, and slow maintenance follow-through.
- Security and dorm allocation deserve attention before booking, especially for female-only or mixed dorm preferences.
