Mad Monkey Hostel Siargao

My bed had bedbugs, but they were so nice about it and moved everyone in the same dorm to a new one!

There were numerous rooms infected with bed bugs and when management were made aware of this they said they’d just change the sheets - As if that will get rid of them. They also attempted to move a male into an all female dorm at 2 in the morning, Turning on all the lights and being very loud - waking up all the girls sleeping at that time, because of the lack of beds due to the bed bugs infestation. I wouldn’t stay here there’s plenty of better hostels for cheaper and in a better location.

I stayed in October of 2025 and there was a significant problem with bedbugs. Multiple rooms has them and people got shuffled around trying to get away. The staff weren’t too helpful about it and tried to downplay the seriousness of the situation, but the manager sorted it out the next day. They didn’t consider it a significant problem, but we were all very concerned about finding them in beds and leaving with them in our bags.

Bed bugs! Had to move rooms twice for bed bugs. At first they only offered to change the sheets, eventually they moved us. Also, female bar staff were very rude, they had no change so asked if I could just pay extra - crazy

Eerste instantie werden we al niet bij elkaar in een dorm gezet. Kan gebeuren en zouden de volgende dag wel bij elkaar kunnen slapen. Dag erna hoorde we dat er bed bugs in die dorm waren gevonden. We werden verplaatst naar een andere dorm. Hier hebben we 4 nachten geslapen en in de laatste nacht hebben we weer 3 bed bugs gezien. Het is een groot hostel die veel leuke dingen organiseren. Maar wat betreft die vieze beesten, vind ik dat het niet goed wordt aangepakt…. Heel zonde ):

Really disappointed with the reputation of mad monkey always being the best place to go for drinks and a good vibe, but here the showers were very weak and cold, sand everywhere, some guests told me about bed bugs in their room, the bar never had change so a beer would be 109 pesos and you give 120 pesos and they wouldn't give change back and just said we will remove it from your last drink but they never do. And the atmosphere was frankly mid for a drinking hostel culture.
