Why this surfaced
Repeated, deduplicated traveler-review reports matched these incident categories:
One report can match more than one category. Counts describe review reports, not independently verified incidents.
These are reports in traveler reviews, not independently verified incidents. Duplicate review text and strong repeat-reviewer identities count once.
Category matches are automated. Relevant passages are exact review quotes selected from concrete incident wording, not hidden model rationales. If none appears, treat the match as suspect and check the full review.

The door to our room did not lock, the door from the stairwell into the hostel did not lock so anybody with access to the building could basically come into our rooms in the middle of the night.

Full reviewConfused on why there are no other reviews here about the total lack of security at this place. The door to our room did not lock, the door from the stairwell into the hostel did not lock so anybody with access to the building could basically come into our rooms in the middle of the night. And access to the building was incredibly easy to get, seeing as twice we entered without having to ring the bell while other residents were going in. We were assured that it was safe as there was a police station next door?? Totally unacceptable as two teenage girls, felt very unsafe with people coming in later at night unsure if they actually lived there. The rest of the place was pretty dingy, and because it is some kind of residence instead of a hostel the tourist tax was €9.50 per night which was fine but felt pretty steep. The toilet and kitchen were pretty grimy, they did the job though. Entryway was also messy. We met some great people, but that was the height of it.

no locks on the bedroom doors yet they would lock us out from the hostel itself.

Full reviewabsolutely horrible. place was a mess and it felt unsafe. no locks on the bedroom doors yet they would lock us out from the hostel itself. at one point my friend and I were stuck outside of the hostel in the hallway for two hours and no one came and helped us. went to the police station next door for help and they didn’t help us either. it’s cheap but not worth your safety, sanity and cleanliness. place should be shut down

rooms do not lock and ours didnt even close so anyone is just free to walk in and out
Show full review
Full reviewVery unclean, dust everywhere, showers don't work very well (one had head that would not stay on wall) and there are only two for all the rooms (there is only one toilet and one shower in each bathroom). Dirty toilet and bathrooms with mildew. Not very secure, rooms do not lock and ours didnt even close so anyone is just free to walk in and out and it's located in an old building with a dodgy stairwell. When I was there you could hear drunk people yelling in the building at 2am. Kitchen is very unclean with rust and caked food all over the counters. Location is very central and for a cheap stay for one night it will do but I did three and wouldn't stay there again. The girls on reception are pleasant and there is late check in which is convenient.

I woke up at 5 am and my bedroom and the front door to the building was laying wide open with no one else around.

Full reviewOne of the worst hostels I've stayed at. The one staff member we met was nice enough but everything else was horrid. The pillows were like a sack of rocks, the beds were so uncomfortable. There's no locks on any of the doors, I woke up at 5 am and my bedroom and the front door to the building was laying wide open with no one else around. Was supposed to no noise after 11 but we had some old shirtless man blaring music in the common area by himself after he opened up our bedroom door.

I had rude man hammering aggressively on the bathroom door after I’d only been in there for 2 minutes.

Full reviewI would not recommend this hostel. There are only 2 bathrooms between 20 people, and one of them smelt of urine. There were queues of 20+ minutes in the morning for the loo/shower, and I had rude man hammering aggressively on the bathroom door after I’d only been in there for 2 minutes. The receptionist witnessed this and said nothing. There was also supposedly “silence from 11pm”, but the receptionist was talking loudly checking people in at 12pm. The hostel was tired and needed soundproofing.

No locks on any of the dorm doors
Full reviewpretty terrible hostel. The rooms are unclean, they bathrooms are aged and grubby as is the kitchen (as an example open bins were put in the common area). No locks on any of the dorm doors and located in old building that is just open in the day make it all feel very unsafe. Located about 15 minutes from the train station and historical sites and just off the main shopping street. No smoke alarms, no AC, very old heating unit in the corner. Staff are on until 10pm at night.

Full reviewNo locks on bedroom doors, we stayed in a private and had a person walk into our room and look through our stuff. There were only two bathrooms in the hostel. We waited at least 20 minutes each time we needed to use the bathrooms. But it was much cheaper than other hostels in Milan.

Doors do not lock, only security is from the outside door but realistically anyone from the interior of the building could walk right in.

Full reviewGreat location and staff are lovely! Very small, great for coziness and noise but no social aspect. Only 2 bathrooms so lots of waiting unless you go at non-peak times. Felt clean and had most things you would need! Doors do not lock, only security is from the outside door but realistically anyone from the interior of the building could walk right in. Great otherwise, walking distance to tons of shops and metro!

Meaning anyone can just guess a number and get in.
Full reviewIt was mostly clean, but it's way to expensive for such space. it's an apartkent in a building, bathrooms are shared and the toilet is inside each, soo can't use seprately. Also the only thing preventing someone from entering is a receptionist just asking for the room number. Meaning anyone can just guess a number and get in.

the front door is not locked, so anyone could enter
Show full review
Full reviewI don't get why there are so many high reviews. The place is nice, it is near the Central Station and the staff is welcoming. But there are also many cons. There are only two bathrooms, and you will end up waiting for your turn, especially in the morning. The hot water is not always there. The floor makes so much noise, so if someone enters the room and you're sleeping, you'll wake up. Finally the front door is not locked, so anyone could enter. Not a bad hostel overall, but needs improvements

the rooms can’t be locked therefore anyone could go in at any time with no security at all

Full reviewWorst hostel experience.. aside from the good location and the people working there who are nice, the rest was catastrophic, the glass on the window doesn’t get closed we were freezing at night, the rooms can’t be locked therefore anyone could go in at any time with no security at all, the hostel was very poorly decorated. Not worth the price at all considering that there are so many other choices for the same price or for a little more. I would suggest they take a little more care of the place.

The front door is open all the time and anyone can just walk in.
Full reviewThe staff was great, but that's about it. The place is just a big apartment that they use as a hostel. The front door is open all the time and anyone can just walk in. The lockers can't be locked and not even the door of the room could be closed. Not locked, closed. Creakiest place ever, the beds, the floor and the doors were super noisy, so not much sleep, also due to a really uncomfortable bed. Looked at the bathroom and skipped showering, overall the place needs renovating.
