I checked in and as I was falling asleep noticed loads of bed bugs crawling up and down the wall, I went to get someone to show them. I was repeatedly told there were no bugs while looking at a wall covered in bed bugs. I was given a refund and part of the cost of laundry covered but was spoken to like I was the problem, even told I must have brought them with me, when I checked in 5 hours previously. No one else in the room was informed and they continued to check people in to the bug infested room. No one offered any apology or assistance to me while I had to check out and find new accommodation in the middle of the night as a solo female traveller.

Nice social hostel. Rooftop bar was fun and had events. The private room was basic but clean. Some other people has bed bugs.

I speak on behalf of several girls. they have been canceled from hostelworld and can no longer write anything. Well I can. there were BEDBUGS! and they scam you if you book the ha giang loop through the hostel. communication is bad, hygiene is bad. I wanted to leave ASAP.

We booked because of the good reviews but we’re disappointed. We tried to call in advance and they wouldn’t pick up the phone/just shouted “no” and then hung up. Whatsapped them, where they explained they were “understaffed and too busy” to answer their own phones. We stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm. There were no windows or natural light. The top bunks were hard to access but the beds were big and comfortable enough with curtains for privacy. We all woke up with bug bites. There’s only 1 bathroom per f

It's an okay hostel, but no more. Their rating is spiked I'm sure by the offer they make of a free drink for a 5 star review. There's nothing wrong with this place but it's not a 9 star accomodation or anything like it. Some staff were friendly, others unhelpful. It's a city hostel. Toilets were regularly unclean and I was bitten by bedbugs (it was my first stop on the trip, they couldn't have come from anywhere else). Lovely views over Hanoi and well located in the heart of the Old Quarter.

TERRIBLE Manager lady was horrible. We booked the Ha Giang Loop through them and though the loop was good, the journey to and from was anything but what was promised, with us having to take three buses, walk 30 minutes, wait outside 90 and stand on one of the buses. Hostel lady then held our t-shirts hostage demanding money for towels left in our room which we used. They overbooked and so moved us to a room with BED BUGS and said we were lucky we had not been charged extra for their error

Lake View Backpackers Hostel Rooftop Bar is a central Old Quarter base with the lake, cafes, street food, and major Hanoi stops close by. The included breakfast is a real strength, with a bigger spread than the basic hostel norm. The rooftop bar is the main social hook. When open and running well, it gives the place its party-hostel energy, with drinks, music, a terrace, and sometimes a pool area. This is the reason to pick it over a quieter sleep-first spot. Rooms can be compact, dim, and windowless, especially dorms and some private rooms. Beds are often fine or comfortable, but storage, ventilation, bathroom layout, and noise insulation can be weak. This works better for a short, social Hanoi stop than for a private-room value stay. Cleanliness is the big tradeoff. Bathrooms are often wet from shower-toilet layouts, toilet paper can run out, and common seating may be stained or smoky. The rooftop, bar, or pool may also be closed, dirty, or restricted without much warning, so the best part of the hostel is not always guaranteed.
