This is bad hostel! There is bed bug in the room and I was bitted multiple times during stay. Also toilet and kitchen and all communal areas are very dirty and facilities are broken. It’s a bad experience with ithus hostel and believe me don’t try.

Room was extremely dirty. Found weed hidden between the mattress and bed frame. Ended up finding a bedbug and decided to leave. Staff members were unfriendly and unhelpful in dealing with the bugs and bad mouthed us to each other while we were still there. Would not recommend.

This is a very cheap hostel and you pay for what you get. I woke up at 4:45 in the morning to a man sitting on the couch across from my bed watching me sleeping. Got lots of bites from bed bugs. Air conditioner in the room does not work so must sleep with open windows with a busy loud street below. If cheap is all that matters, like it does for me, this is still not worth it. Splurge and spend and extra 3 or 4 euro more on a nicer place.

BED BUGS EVERYWHERE ! (And cockroaches) ! Even if they spray your room they won’t disappear! Horrible experience. Avoid at all cost!

Worst place I ever stayed in. They have BEDBUGS and don't even bother to do anything about it. Stuff gets stolen, and it is not safe in the Hostel nor in the streets around the Hostel. It is not worth to ruin your stay at the city like that

Vibe Analysis
Acropolis View Dream Hostel is a very cheap, rough-edged Athens base near Larissis railway and metro. The practical wins are price, transport access, big lockers in parts of the building, workable Wi-Fi in parts of the building, and a rooftop terrace with a distant Acropolis view. The rooftop terrace is the clearest standout: it can turn a bare-bones sleep into a place for coffee, photos, and casual chats, especially in the evening. The crowd can feel more long-term and alternative than classic backpacker, with a mix of short, mid, and longer-term residents rather than a polished tourist-hostel scene. This is not a soft landing. Cleanliness is a serious problem, including bathrooms, kitchen areas, bedding, floors, insects, bedbugs, and cockroaches. Facilities can be old, broken, cramped, poorly locked, or missing basics like toilet paper, towels, pillowcases, blankets, private shower doors, and reliable room security. Service is highly uneven. At its best, staff can be warm, practical, and genuinely helpful, including strong support in stressful situations. At its worst, reception can be absent or unreachable, late check-in can fail, and interactions can be rude or disorganized.
Signals to check
- The surrounding area can feel unsafe or stressful, especially at night and especially for solo female travelers.
- Late arrival is risky because reception and self-check-in may not work reliably.
- Cleanliness and pest issues are serious enough that this is best treated as a last-resort budget sleep, not a comfort pick.
- The atmosphere can include long-term residents, older residents, noise, smoking, and behavior that may feel uncomfortable.
- Bring a padlock, towel, and backup basics; lockers and room security may not match expectations.
