    Lovely that it’s beach front but there’s a few things that need fixing, the balcony door had a gap to outside so there were a few bugs in the room. Overall good hostel with friendly staff just maybe needs a few touch ups. Doors didn’t lock so can’t rate too high for security

    The location is nice, but unfortunately the stay itself was chaotic from the very beginning. When we arrived, someone who didn’t speak English showed us the beds and clearly didn’t know which beds belonged to whom. Shortly after, another guest told me that I was sleeping in his bed. After discussions with the staff, everyone eventually got a bed — but it already felt disorganized and stressful. At 4 a.m., the chaos continued: staff turned on the lights in the dorm and started arguing with a guest because someone was sleeping in his bed. This happened in the middle of the night and completely disrupted everyone’s sleep. The dorm door was broken and made an extremely loud noise every time someone opened it. The lockers that were supposed to be available were broken, and staff repeatedly moved guests’ personal belongings, which felt very uncomfortable and unprofessional. On top of that, there were cockroaches in the room. Overall, great location, but poor organization, lack of communication, and basic hostel standards were not met. Would not stay again.

    This is the worst hostel I’ve stayed in so far. It is a unorganised party hostel. You do not get the room you book, we booked onto 2 seperate rooms, a smaller room for 1 night then the more spacious for 2 nights for comfort but this wasn’t the case. The rooms are full of mould, water damage and musty air, the aircon in the second room was super loud and rattly and sounded like it was about to blow up. The tap was broken to. These things do not usually bother me but on our last night we came back super tired after a busy day - everybody was out at a party and all of my stuff had been chucked from my bed onto the floor and somebody else’s stuff moved onto my bed (which still had the same sheets on that I slept in) this left me without a bed as all the beds were taken! I called the number and the guy answered the phone extremely drunk, shouting saying I was in the wrong bed and ‘rules are rules’ but when we arrived into that room the bed they told me to stay in was occupied, I let them know this and told them the bed number I was in. Even so, I think it’s disgusting that they thought it okay to take my stuff off the bed and didn’t even contact me! Eventually someone came back and gave me another bed (a top bunk which was booked by someone else but had no belongings on it) so I was confused as to why they didn’t give the person that bed before moving all of my stuff? I had no other choice but to sleep there. The owner came in the dorm shouting when someone was asleep said ‘he didn’t care’ that someone was sleeping and backhanded apologies, he is clearly extremely stressed by the amount of ppl staying there but maybe they should shut down temporarily to organise things a bit better or don’t book in so many people if this is the case. We managed to get a partial refund (one free breakfast) which was awful - 2 fried eggs with a slice of lettuce… we had to ask for the rest of the stuff and it came out one by one 10 minutes apart, the only thing I liked was the beach front location/view and the boat party was okay but definitely room for improvement with that to - no food for 4-5 hours just a tray of crisps and the boat started moving whilst somebody was in the water.

    Pros - nice location with private beach, hostel organised events / pres for nights out so social and good atmosphere Cons - very run down and not like the photos, lots of mould in rooms, no working taps, cockroaches in the bed, exposed live wires and no light, no security or ability to lock valuables away.

    We booked Satori based on its location (near Welligama and Mirissa beaches) and the view. It relies very heavily on the views from the room and its location on the beach. It is a social hostel and is good for partying - arranging doctor’s house and jungle party nights. These are all the positives. However, the rooms, the service, and the overall experience were poor. Initially, we were given a bed with someone else’s belongings. When we raised the issue, the staff simply threw their belongings off the bed and changed the sheets. The person who was there originally then returned and complained to the staff, who blamed us for the situation. Fortunately, other people in the room were present to tell him what had actually happened. The rooms, particularly the bathrooms, need some maintenance. The shower is cold. The toilet in the room was broken. The doors to the dorms also have no locks and are left open, which is not great for security - I can see lots of reviews with people reporting having stuff stolen. If all you care about is partying you will probably be fine with this place. However, there are nice hostels in the area for cheaper that I would recommend you consider instead.

    Be careful, a staff member named Susa stole around $150 from my wallet..What made it worse was that we had spent days talking about life and building a genuine connection, so it felt like a real betrayal, not just a loss of money…CCTV showed him taking it, but the owners were initially dismissive but later on they were supportive, which made the situation even more disheartening..The property looks good online but in reality it’s quite disappointing, washrooms broken lockers & poorly maintained

    DO NOT STAY HERE, THEY STEAL MONEY!!! I stayed here and got robbed while I was taking a shower. The worst part is that IT WAS THE STAFF WHO STOLE FROM ME, since I was alone in the room. I absolutely do not recommend this place they did nothing to solve the problem. NO SE HOSPEDEN AQUÍ , ROBAN DINERO !!! me hospedé aquí y me robaron dinero mientras estaba bañándome , lo peor es que EL MISMO PERSONAL ROBA, ya que yo estaba sola en el cuarto , no lo recomiendo para nada , no me resolvieron el problema

Lassen Sie keine Wertsachen zurück, denn es wird eingebrochen, selbst wenn Sie im Badezimmer sind, und Ihre Sachen werden gestohlen. Es gibt keine Sicherheit oder Kontrolle darüber, wer ein- oder ausgeht. Es war eine sehr unangenehme Erfahrung.     My money was stolen, the showers were bad, they didn't have towels to rent and when they did it took 15min to get one. Andthere was a man with a machete intimidating the locals one night.

    Awful hostel. Dirty room with non functional airconidioning and rude staff. Street dog walked in through their open door and stole and destroyed my shoes that were left with many other guests shoes. No signage indicating the risk even though they described the dog as a nuisance, and no kindness at the situation. Volunteer smirked to my face and belittled me, when I told her it hurt my feelings she told me my feelings were wrong. Really sad experience.

    Love this place! Staff is so lovely, especially Hiruni! She was so lovely and helpful. Beds are so comfy. Gorgeous view No toilet roll and no locks on the doors though!

    The hostel is hard to rate. As a party hostel it’s amazing and we loved the hostels boat party/beach. However the property is not as advertised and the security is non-existent. There’s no locks on any of the building/dorms and the ‘lockers’ under the beds provided (you have to bring a lock) are not secure. If you lifted any mattress you would be able to access. The property does not look well maintained as the pics. Much is broken, especially in dorm rooms. Free shots offered for 10* reviews.

    Pros: Free water refill, AC in room, nice sheets and curtain on bed. Hot water. They put a lot on for guests. Cons: Blasting loud music in communal area during the day. Family dinner needs to be help yourself style, instead they plate it for you and give 2 pieces of chicken. Didn’t respect privacy of guests, one guest was caught having sex on CCTV and a worker shared it with everyone. Cleaners came in at 8.30am. Need a weekly schedule up of activities. Bit of a walk from main part of town.

    Horrible horrible stay. Place looks nothing like the pictures. Bathrooms are dirty, the service is slow, the whole place looks like it’s about to fall apart. Couldn’t wait to get out of there. Also we got some stuff stolen there, so we didn’t feel safe at all. Nothing not even the doors worked properly. The bathrooms were extremely dirty and filled with insects. The only positive thing was the nice view and easy access to the beach, but wasn’t overall worth it.

Vibe Analysis

Satori sits right on the sea and leans hard into the Mirissa beach-party rhythm. Boat parties, daily activities, and a very social mood are the main pattern, so this is a good fit if you want people around and do not mind a lively base. The upside is the setting: open water, coastline views, and that immediate beach-front feel. When it lands, it looks like the kind of place where you can stay a few nights, meet people fast, and use the hostel as the whole plan. The tradeoff is that the place can feel run down. Rooms, bathrooms, and shared spaces can be dirty, mouldy, buggy, and patchy on basic upkeep, with weak Wi-Fi and some broken bits. It sounds better for short, low-expectation stays than for anyone who wants polish or quiet.
