Bed bug reports

I’ve stayed at this hostel twice, and my experiences were quite different. The first time, I stayed in a 6-bed dorm and everything was great. The staff were very friendly and helpful — they assisted me with luggage storage and gave a clear introduction to the facilities. The location is also very convenient, which made my stay enjoyable overall. However, during my second stay, I booked a 12-bed dorm. After just one night, I woke up with multiple red, itchy bites on my body. Since I had an early tour that morning, I didn’t pay too much attention at the time. It was only later in the afternoon, when I was leaving Cusco, that I realized the bites had spread across my arms, legs, and neck. The bites appeared in clusters and lines, which is very concerning and suggests possible bed bug exposure. This was a very uncomfortable experience and made me worried about hygiene and pest control, especially in larger dorm rooms. I did not have this issue during my first stay, so the difference between room types is quite noticeable. I appreciate the kindness of the staff and the good location, but I strongly hope the hostel can take this issue seriously and ensure proper cleaning and pest control in all dorms. I would recommend being cautious when choosing larger dorm rooms.

Vibe Analysis
Pariwana Cusco is a central, big-energy Cusco base in a beautiful old colonial house, close to Plaza de Armas and San Blas. Its best use case is social momentum: organized activities, a bar, games, spacious common areas, free tea, breakfast or early-trip practicalities, and plenty of travelers moving through before or after treks. When the room lands right, the beds can be comfortable and the location does a lot of heavy lifting. The catch is that this is not a soft landing for quiet sleep or remote-work calm. The party setup bleeds into the rooms: courtyard music, karaoke, bar noise, street noise, and late returns can run straight through early-trek schedules. The operational pattern is messy too: room Wi-Fi can be dead, shower pressure and temperature can fail, and evening water cuts have happened. Book it when you want a central social machine and can tolerate some chaos. Be more cautious if you need dependable internet, a guaranteed shower after a hike, clean modern bathrooms, warm rooms, or staff handling a problem quickly.
Signals to check
- Wi-Fi can be unusable in rooms and unreliable across the building.
- Hot water and even running water can be unreliable, especially around evening shower times.
- This is a loud party-leaning hostel; music, karaoke, bar noise, and late-night returns can reach rooms.
- Bathrooms and some rooms can feel dated, dirty, cold, damp, or smelly.
- Room access and security can be shaky; use lockers and double-check assignments.
