Avoid this place at all costs. This property should be burned down. One of the rooms got evacuated and sent to a different hostel bc there were bed bugs (they didn’t get refund), rats in ceiling, landfill on property so whole place smells sour, door doesn’t even shut to room, cats kept coming in. The list goes on and on. It’s literally a shack. I love to camp and have gone a week without showering and have never felt more disgusting than at this place.

Possibly the worst place we have stated travelling. The water was brown, cold and found a bed bug. There was no lock for the door anyone could have gone in and stolen out stuff. I felt very scared going to sleep incase anyone or anything would have come in the room. Please update your facilities.

Skittent, vi så bedbugs på rommet, ble sett mus på rommet, strømbrudd over 2 døgn uten reserve generator som gjorde det umulig å sove på rommet grunnet varme.

I am writing this review out of responsibility especially for young travelers and volunteers who may consider staying here. What we experienced at Yellow Sun Koh Rong was not simply “disorganization.” It was a pattern of behavior and conditions that made many of us feel uncomfortable, disrespected, and at times unsafe. There will were repeated inappropriate and sexist comments toward female volunteers, uncomfortable jokes, and physical boundary violations. Statements like “you can sit on my lap” & ” do you wanna have sex with us" were made casually. For young women volunteering abroad, this is not something that should ever be normalized. Communication was chaotic or nonexistent. Expectations were not explained, yet volunteers were blamed and shouted at for not knowing tasks. Mood swings and unpredictable reactions created a tense and unstable atmosphere. The hygiene and accommodation conditions were deeply concerning. The property was very dirty. The kitchen hygiene was unacceptable. They stole my towel and i found it in their Kitchen & didn‘t even got a Apologie. They also just use shoes from one of the other Volunteers and just left them somewhere. There were mice in the rooms (one was caught twice) and bedbugs. Mold on the Pillows under the Pillow sheets. The hostel appeared clearly overbooked. There were not enough sleeping spaces. One volunteer had to sleep outside. Two very young girls (18 and 21 years old) were placed in the host’s bed and the bedsheets had not been washed at all before they were required to sleep there. After they confronted him about this, he allegedly threatened them with the police, claiming he had connections, creating an environment that felt intimidating and unsafe.” This alone speaks for itself. Volunteers were abruptly removed because too many people had been accepted. They were not asked respectfully they were simply told to leave.

No lockers, only few outside the room with no keys, the guy said they don’t have those keys. You can easily walk in the rooms from outside, there’s no lock. Bathrooms and showers poorly made, a lot of bugs all of over the place, bins in the toilets were not emptied, no toilet paper. I left with a lot of bites (bed bugs or mosquitoes?)

  6. Confirmed Hostelworld

Bed bugs in multiple rooms with those in contact being moved into other rooms, further spreading the bugs. Staff were little to no help and made some of the other guests feel uncomfortable with inappropriate comments to some of the girls. Sand everywhere, no locks on the rooms, and facilities felt very basic. Would avoid staying there at all costs, very expensive for what it is.

Really basic hostel that feels like it’s still a work-in-progress. When I arrived there was no WiFi and in the night there was no power, meaning the AC failed and I woke up in a room hotter than a Yellow Sun. No locks on dorm doors and no lights or power sockets by beds. Other guests in my dorm left on account of bed bugs, although I did not see this. That said, people running it seem very nice and volunteers created a good vibe on the beachfront. Location is really good for Nestival and not too far from ma

Do not stay here! Only good thing about this place was the cute kittens! My friend got bed bugs, multiple power cuts, brown shower water and the water went out so we couldn’t shower one day. Staff were not the most accomodating or apologetic about any of these issues. Very unclean, AC barely works so the rooms are HOT. Can find better accomodation just down the beach.
