Bed bugs bite hard and the itching can last for weeks. They go in your suitcase home and spread. Fumigation doesn’t work well.

Los baños demasiado sucios. He sentido picaduras en mi cuerpo desde que llegué de allí, pueden haber chinches. Las sábanas están manchadas y hay mucho ruido

Last Hope is a good name for this place which i stayed on December 2024 where nothing worked everything was dirty and me and other friends ended up with Bed Bugs. Really did not like how low quality it all was.

I never leave negative feedback however I am 99.99% sure this hostel gave my partner and I bed bugs and after reading previous reviews I am almost certain. Diego is a fantastic host however I would be VERY cautious staying here due to this, or at the very least check your bedding!!! Would not recommend this hostel until bed bug issue is properly addressed.

I have never left a hostel without staying prior to this, but the bedding was so dirty, we couldn’t even stay for the one night we had booked. There were marks on the mattress and sheets that looked suspiciously like bed bugs, and there were even dead bugs under the beds. The pillows that were presumably once white were yellow. We asked to see a different room, and they showed us an admittedly cleaner private room that still had marks on the sheets. They tried to explain these marks away as being from stains from previous guests, which is still not acceptable. As we booked a non refundable room, despite us saying that we couldn’t stay due to the cleanliness of the place, they refused to give us a refund. We were happy to take the loss as all we wanted to do was leave.

Amazing hostel! Diego is an encyclopaedia of things to do in puerto natales and will help you with your W trek. Super chill guy and works really hard to make the hostel clean, inviting and social. I love the common rooms it’s very warm on the cold days, nice ppl around and is not a loud party hostel Hostel is in great location, beds are clean- no bedbugs on our stay in April 2025. Kitchen has lots of pots, free towel hire, the box of free stuff has saved us so many times. Would come back!

We found bed bugs and when we brought it to the attention of the hostel owner, he was completely unhelpful. After his reaction (and no resolution to the bed bugs issue) we felt uncomfortable enough to leave and book somewhere else for the night. It was unfortunate because we would have enjoyed our stay otherwise. This overall left us feeling like it was a negative experience.

WARNING: BED BUGS! Several reviews on Hostelworld prove that the owner has known about the problem since at least March 2024 and has failed to address it. When I informed him, he moved me to another room, but the very next day put a new guest in the same bed. He also asked me not to tell other guests. After I informed him of the problem and asked him to clean all my belongings, he did so but became quite unfriendly towards me for the rest of my stay (as if I had been the one who gave him bed bugs!) I discovered after I left that he had cancelled my Hostelworld booking which I assume he did so that I could not leave a negative review. Very unethical.

Was not a good experience... BED BUGS! Owner of the hostel was the only employee and it was clear that he was in over his head. Moldy showers were the least of the concerns when my travel partner woke up with bed bugs crawling in his bed. Our room was switched but the owner still booked our previous room to new travelers the very same day...previous google reviews confirm this is ongoing. Hostel owner canceled our reservation the day we left in order to prevent us from leaving a negative review on Hostelworld.com.

Bed bugs problem... known by the host and not really sure if it’s taken seriously.

Diago was great. Helped loads. The free breakfast was good. The atmosphere was great and very social. Given the bed bugs I got, the guy below me got and someone who I met in El Chalten also said she got from there, I have to rate it poorly.

We stayed one night before & one after visiting Torres del Paine and unfortunately encountered bed bugs. Diego is kind & welcoming, but this issue is unacceptable. Other guests have also complained, so it’s clearly a known problem that hasn’t been resolved. It’s a shame because Diego tries hard, but the bed bugs completely ruined our stay. He urgently needs to fumigate & deep clean the hostel. I wouldn’t stay here again until this is addressed.

Unfortunately this place has a bedbug problem. I want to write a fair review as during our stay the owner was away. However the staff left didnt seem interested in working. Bathrooms were either constantly broken or unclean. When we noticed bedbugs in our room we couldn’t find any staff for hours to alert. Eventually Diego contacted us and we informed him of our problem. He was very sorry and refunded our 3 nights But reading reviews it seems this happens many times. Mattresses also old & awful

Worst hostel I've ever stayed at - cheap uncomfortable beds infested with bed bugs!

Unfortunately i got bedbugs from staying here:( The mattress and pillow were horrible and were covered in stains. Diego, the owner is great and so is his dog but the cleanliness needs a lot of improvement.

BED BUGS. Left a raving review after my first stay but after my last one I was destroyed by bed bugs. It’s unfortunate to now see there’s reviews all season saying they got eaten by bed bugs, as well as years past, so clearly they’re not doing anything about it. Diego, I love you man, but this is not cool.

The host is a very nice person, but unfortunately there was a big bedbug problem there during my stay in early March 2024. I got over 25 bites in one night, and even when they switched us to another room with a mattress cover I woke up to more climbing up the walls in the middle of the night. While they did seem genuinely upset about the situation and offer to do our laundry to kill them, they ultimately didn't seem to know best practices with this (the most important being to run clothes in dryer in high heat for at least 30 minutes) as they extremely overloaded the dryer the left some our things out to air-dry. We spent a lot of time before our trek trying to remedy this issue. Apologies to the host because he does seem very nice and the Hostel itself is a nice place, but I would want to know about this when making my decision to stay there. From what I have seen I would imagine they need to do a full fumigation.

BEWARE BED BUGS and I stayed in two different rooms. Left this hotel with at least 5 bites and a lot of swelling. I have been travelling for 5 months and this is the first time it's happened. I'm really scared of bringing them back home because it would costs thousands of dollars to get rid of. Now I need to throw away my Osprey backpack when I get home!

Pros: staff, location & kitchen ammenities Cons: Reception was often empty and we had to wait in the rain for 20mins on arrival. The room door codes are universal/shared aloud in front of other guests so security felt low. Beds are very old & structurally unstable, with many missing screws and wobbly planks. The pillows were lumpy and the springs poked through the mattress. 3 people in our group got severe bedbugs (but to their credit, the staff washed our laundry to help remove)

Nice place but had bed bugs. Good breakfast & nice atmosphere, staff were nice - gave us a refund. Just unfortunate about the bed bugs really!

BEDBUGS! Actually a great hostel (nice location, friendly owner, nice atmosphere) but we had bites after our first night there (even before the W-Trek) and we found bedbugs after our second night (the two nights were in different rooms). Seems like they have a pretty bad bed bug infestation there. They refunded us for the second night, but it didn’t seem like they will be starting a bigger clean-up.

This was a great spot before our O trek. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was fab. Unfortunately, I got eaten alive by bed bugs in our private room. My partner didn’t get any bites, but I had about 50. This was a huge bummer before our 8 day trek. I hope the manager/owner has had the room fumigated. Otherwise, it was a wonderful place to stay.

First of all great hostel, very clean showers and bathrooms and good kitchen with everything. Diego is an amazing person, extremely helpful and kind. Except of the breakfast which is good but not special I would highly recommend this place. Very nice vibe and charming as well. But: I personally did not have the experience but there was a girl in our room which got bed bugs from the mattress. Once you get them it’s not a pleasure to get rid of them again. Thus I hope that it will be fixed soon. Otherwise apart from the fact that the rooms are not that large as well as the lockers I would really like to recommend it to everybody unless the problem is not fixed. But Diego as a character was just awesome !

This place had all the makings of a very nice hostel but unfortunately I had a very bad experience with bed bugs. The owner was helpful in letting me change rooms but could do better in terms of cleaning protocols to address this issue.

Disappointed to have to give a poor rating as Diego is a nice dude and his family are lovely. Unfortunately my girlfriend woke up in the 6 bed dorm in the middle of the night due to being bitten several times by bed bugs. This meant we lost sleep and had to move our luggage out of the room. I reported this in the morning to the female staff member who didn’t seem to care or offer an apology. When Diego arrived he was apologetic and we suggested he bought a new mattress(s) to stop the problem as it seemed this had been an issue previously. He said he would clean the room and fumigate it. The communal area was great but not clean and the bathrooms were filthy and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned well for some time. Maybe the female staff member could have been doing this after setting up for breakfast rather than sitting on her phone watching Netflix all morning until Diego arrived.

Vibe Analysis
Diego runs the place with a very hands-on style. He helps with Torres del Paine plans, bus timing, gear storage, and early breakfast, and that gives the hostel a friendly, personal feel. The hostel is small and simple, with a cozy common area, a well-equipped kitchen, hot showers, and a location that works well for town and for getting out to the park. Free towels and luggage storage are useful before and after a hike. At the same time, the building feels worn in parts. Some rooms are basic, noise can carry, and a few spots need more care. If you want a practical base with a strong host presence, this fits; if you want polished comfort, this may not be the right match.
Signals to check
- Some rooms feel worn and basic.
- Noise can carry into sleeping areas.
- A few bathrooms and showers need more care.
- Heating can be uneven in some rooms.
- Bed bug issues have appeared in some rooms.
