Bathrooms were nasty, elevators took forever to open up, our key cards would not work every day, & lastly bed bugs on the bed.

Que espanto de Sítio. Estoy saliendo lllena de picaduras de bed bugs! En mi vida, ni en Africa me ha passado eso! Una verguenza y pienso hablar con el organo de protection al cliente! Para que no pase a otro! 30 euros de medicaciones he gastado!

If i could leave a 0/0 i would. Our room was infested with bed bugs. When we went to tell the staff they were extremely rude and dismissive. There was no manager available and the staff had no idea how to act in the situation. They could not offer us another room and told us to use our own money to go to another hostel which was not financially possible for us so we had to sleep in the bug infested room!!

Place has bedbugs - they haven’t even bothered to reply to my email and refund request so I wouldn’t assume they’ve taken care of the bedbugs.

Me quedé en el hotel, pero la experiencia fue muy mala. Los baños estaban sucios, las camas no tenían cortina, había mucho ruido por el sonido de las puertas y los otros huespedes prendiendo y apagando la luz durante la noche, fue imposible descansar. No volvería a hospedarme alli, aunque locación si me gustó mucho. Manana tengo consulta con medico para ver si tengo una reaccion por chinches de cama, no puedo confirmarlo pero me dio un día después del check out.

We stayed here on 30/04/2026 and booked a 4-bed female room. Unfortunately, our experience was very bad. The room was not clean at all and felt unhygienic. The worst issue was that there were bed bugs. We were bitten during the night and woke up with red, itchy marks all over our bodies, which was extremely uncomfortable and upsetting. This is a serious hygiene issue that needs urgent attention. I would not recommend staying here until this problem is properly resolved.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Before going to sleep we noticed a bug crawling in one of the beds. Turned out it was a bed bug! Upon closer inspection we ended up discovering multiple bed bugs in one bed in our dorm, also some crawling on the walls. When we went to report this to reception, they were not at all surprised and were completely unhelpful in the situation. They told us we should leave the hostel, bear in mind it was 12:30am at this point, with all other hostels and hotels being fully booked nearby and we did not feel safe wandering the streets in the middle of the night to look for alternative accommodation. We asked reception for help to find other places to stay, they suggested ONE hostel which was fully booked! And they made NO EFFORT to find alternative accommodation for us. They gave us a contact card to email them and request a refund, which then took MULTIPLE follow up emails for them to finally respond, despite us sending clear photos and videos of evidence of bed bugs in the room. Do not book here. Absolutely disgusting. Other cons: - AC does not work! - Very thin doors combined with a noisy hostel so you could hear people shouting down the hallways in the night - Front door to the building was left unlocked, had a random person start knocking at our door saying they had left their key inside. - Tiny shower where you could barely move inside (I am short and thin and still struggled to move properly), also there are dispensers for shower gel but it had not been filled up.

BEDBUGS ISSUE Stayed one night at Safestay Barcelona and developed multiple bedbug bites. When I reported it at reception, I was told the issue had already been reported and that the room would be closed. When I later asked for reimbursement of laundry and medical expenses, I was offered only free breakfasts for a future stay. Sharing this so others can decide accordingly.

De verdad nunca me habia pasado el encontrar chinches y cucarachas en las camas, tener que cambiar 2 veces la habitacion porque en ambas habia chinches y el la tercera olia fatal, reserve una habitación de 8 y termine durmiendo en una de 10. Reembolso o descuento? Ninguno. No subo las fotos solo xq no puedo

A fuir, nous avons eu des punaises de lit dans les 2 chambres que nous avions pris. Bien évidemment, aucune compensation proposées par l'auberge.

El personal, la gente que trabaja en relaciones públicas, bastante malas, al momento que te tienen que regresar el cambio de lo que has pagado se molestan si se los pides de regreso, por qué pagas y no tienen cambio y en el trascurso de la noche se los piden se molestan, hacen trasferencia falsa, el dinero nunca llego, por al menos lo pagaron al siguiente día gracias a mi insistencia por que lo pedía de vuelta. Las de recepción son bastante lentas y antipáticas, tuve picaduras de insectos, no sé qué sean al parecer pueden ser chinches o pulgas, no limpian los pasillos están llenos de pelos igual que el baño, vomitados

La habitación mixta tenía chinches en la cama. Es realmente lamentable para un alojamiento de esta categoría. El lugar tiene un bar/cafetería en el segundo piso donde supuestamente se encuentra el área común pero no te dejan traer comida de afuera lo cual te obliga a consumir solo las opciones del lugar. El 7 piso tienen una terraza al aire libre y también un bar, si bien puedes comer allí (no me explico que pasa cuando llueve...) está lleno de gente fumando y es bastante fuerte el olor sobre todo para nuestro caso que no somos fumadores.

Disgusting place! Apart from the low price, there are no advantages. If you want to be bitten by bedbugs and ignored by the hotel staff, then stay here. On the second day, my back broke out in a rash, and as a doctor, I can say that these are bedbug bites! I spent money on moving to a new place, on travel, on a new rent, and on medication to treat my back. The hotel staff ignored me and only started responding to messages after I complained to Booking.com customer service. In the end, they refused a refund. These are unacceptable conditions, even for a hostel. They also won't give you towels or a lock for your locker. The rooms are dirty, and the toilets are even worse. The hostel doesn't value its guests. It won't take their side in disputes. It will ruin your vacation. Tuve una estancia muy decepcionante en este hostal. Desde la primera noche, noté chinches en el dormitorio, lo que hizo la experiencia insoportable. A pesar de informar al personal, no se ofreció ninguna solución real, lo que da la impresión de que el problema se conoce pero no se aborda con seriedad. Más allá de eso, la higiene general deja mucho que desear, y el ambiente no compensa del todo estos inconvenientes. Vienes a un hostal buscando un mínimo de comodidad y limpieza, pero aquí es todo lo contrario: te vas cansado y frustrado. Recomiendo encarecidamente este lugar. Con todas las opciones de alojamiento en Barcelona, ​​es mejor evitar este lugar, que no respeta a sus huéspedes. ¡Manténganse alejados!

It is infested with bedbugs. Heard one of guys complaining and later that night woke up with bedbugs crawling on me, on the wall and in the sheets. There were such comments month ago so it seems they just don't care! It's disgusting!!! It is in horrible central location - it is loud all night and as there is no AC and room is really hot - window is open and you hear everything that's happening outside. To add to this - oily stains on sheets, matress that is shaped in C shape as sheets are too small for this matress, bed light not working. Lift that is mostly not working or stuck somewhere as people are always waiting for it.

This place was horrible, with Bed bugs (photo added: saw it walk up into the light and disappear after I woke up). This is a very old building and if these are hiding in the walls, they will have to spend millions of Euros to clean it up. I didn’t kill it because if there’s one, and this one is big, then there’s a colony somewhere. You can read other reviews where in 2025 alone there were multiple cases where these were found in the building. The staff was under pressure (early 20’s and afraid of confrontation). This business just wants the money and none of the responsibility. A/C not working in the entire building; Except conveniently in the common room where items and food are sold so people would be coerced into buying from the kitchen in order to stay cool or so that’s my belief that the one place where you make extra money is the only place that has air conditioning??? None of this was talked about when registering with them or even when checking in at the desk. {Once speaking with staff we (myself and another mate from the same room) were told that the non functioning A/C was affecting the entire building in all the rooms, adding that some rooms didn’t even have windows. The truth is that the common area did have A/C. The staff gave us the option of one fan for a room of 10 beds with a total of 6 were being used: staff looked at each other with such judgment when we informed them we also had a balcony but the wind was not circulating. The staff also told us the A/C would take 2 weeks from today’s date but it had not been working since June}

Bedbugs, No Air-conditioning & no kitchen. The only good thing was the location. There were bedbugs in the room. Staff did not inform any other guests after this was reported and simply kept checking in new people without dealing with the problem first. The hostel did not have air-conditioning. It was almost impossible to sleep. I would avoid it in summer. It was 35°C outside and even hotter inside. No fans either, meaning you will wake up soaking wet from sweating.

There were bedbugs in some of the rooms, and people have already started complaining about it. On top of that, the air conditioning wasn’t working at all. I just found out that in the private rooms the AC actually works, which means they deliberately left it off in the mixed/shared rooms.

No hubo un solo servicio que fuera bueno, chinches en las camas, elevador y aire acondicionado estropeados, baños sucios y sin papel o jabón. El desayuno incluido eran dos tosradas de pan con mantequilla y un jugo de naranja desabrido. No pudo haber sido peor la experiencia.

When booking this hostel it advised air conditioning, however on arrival it was working which we weren’t told about. This was during the heat wave as well. Could barely sleep without sweating and being uncomfortable. Ontop of this my bed had bed bugs leaving me with bites all over my body leaving me in pain throughout the rest of my travels. I paid full price for this hostel for not being able to use the facilities advertised to me, no replies to my emails about getting a part refund

Personnel désagréable et absent, propreté inexistante : punaises de lit dans les matelas, douche sale, aucune hygiène. Pas de casiers sécurisés pour les affaires. Aucune écoute, aucune solution, et un manager introuvable.

Infested with bed bugs, when we brought the staffs attention to this matter, after arguing back and forth for ages we got *free breakfast and laundry*. If you to stay here, you will not enjoy your holiday. The showers turn off while you are using them, the beds are extremely uncomfortable and the staff are rude and dismissive. Only good thing is the location but it’s not worth it at all please don’t stay here.

Air-conditioning not working like other reviews dont believe anything over 2 star as not honest. Had to get other accommodation as no Air-conditioning and pretty sure has bed bugs

Bed bugs in bed, was so uncomfortable I couldn't sleep. Staff told me at hotel to contact their email address when I was checking out and they have ignored me for weeks. Hotel is also ignoring booking.com as they have asked to refund me. Do not stay! I have came home very uncomfortable and had to go to the GP with so many bites.

There’s a bed bug. The room is so hot. AC does not work well. I stayed in this room but I received an email from booking.com that I did not check in. I paid for this but I can’t see from my history.

Found a bed bug at 12 midnight. The AC is not functioning well. The room is sooooo hot.

AC was broken and in the whole hostel except for the common room. Reception told us fans were being moved about rooms but our room never had one in the 4 nights I stayed. There were Bedbugs which I am getting treated now since I’ve returned home. I got 14 bites which are very inflamed as I have sensitive skin. There was also a large cockroach in the bathroom. Despite this, the staff were lovely and the location of the hostel is great.

Ultimately this was a really cheap hostel, and the reviews are lacklustre for a reason. Whilst the location and staff are pretty good, I would not recommend this place for the following reasons. 1) I started getting bug bites over my body after the first night, over 15 in total. Unknown if these were bed bugs as of yet. The bites only appeared after sleeping a night in bed. 2) The shower facilities are pretty bad. The communal showers are dirty. My 8-bunk room had an ensuite shower but the shower is so small that you can't put your hands up, nor even raise your legs. For some reason, they use a push for water mechanism. And the first push always gives ice cold water (or at least it was ice cold during this winter) before the water goes to the set temperature. This happens every time you push the knob, after the water comes to a stop.

Expérience catastrophique pour ma sœur qui a loué une chambre avec ses amies. Après s’être faite piquée par des punaises de lit dans cet « hôtel » elle les a ramené à son appartement ce qui a engendré des frais très importants pour s’en débarrasser (880€ actuellement). De plus, lorsqu’elle a envoyé un mail pour avertir l’hôtel de sa mauvaise expérience elle n’a même pas reçu une réponse, ni excuse ni compensation financière. C’est une honte de la part des gérants. Ça fait plus d’une semaine que ces nuisibles lui pourrissent la vie et ce à cause de votre « hotel » qui ne fait pas le nécessaire pour désinfecter ses chambres. Nous exigeons un remboursement de l’hôtel ainsi qu’un dédommagement des frais dépensés pour éliminer ces punaises de son appartement. HONTEUX. A fuir.

Cher personnel de Safestay. Tout d’abord je tiens à vous rappeler que l’hôtellerie est un métier qui relève du savoir être vis à vis du client. Il serait donc bien de le rappeler à votre personnel de bar qui a visiblement du mal à dire bonjour et à sourire. Si ce n’était que cela ça irait encore. Eh non, votre hôtel étant infesté de punaise de lit, nous avons dormi de manière catastrophique, et vous nous avez envoyé un “technicien” qui n’en a pas trouvé. Fort heureusement, j’ai les preuves de ce que je vous annonce et en voici donc les, photos. Je compte donc sur votre bonne foi pour d’une part réagir très vite et appliquer les remboursements nécessaire de ce séjour. Je vous conseille également de régler ce problème de punaises de lits pour vos futurs clients. Il m’est également nécessaire de saisir les autorités compétentes pour contrôler votre hôtel disposant d’une hygiène fort douteuse….

good location but infested with bed bugs (bite all over my chest and legs), ran out of blankets (only a thin sheet) and ran out of towels completely, just pay the extra 40 bucks for a way better hostel. only 2 showers and 2 toilets on the floor for each gender

Achtung! Bettwanzen!! Wir bekamen in der darauffolgenden Nacht ein miserables Ersatzzimmer :/
