Tienen chinches, llevo una semana después que estuve allí y no se me quita, soy alérgico y pues es más complejo para mí. Les dije en el check out y me explicaron que eran mosquitos y yo ??????? Está bien ubicado pero ahora no los recomiendo porque es la primera vez que me pasa siendo viajero frecuente y me he quedado en hostales de super mala muerte.

probably one of the worst hostels i’ve stayed in. considering it’s so new, the facilities are gross, the main issue being that the beds are covered in bugs!!! bed bugs or not, no one wants to sleep with tiny insects crawling all over you. multiple people complained about this issue, yet the reception staff were extremely hostile and rude, and charged my friends extra to move rooms. our food was stolen from the kitchen even though it was labelled, there’s barely any sunbeds. overpriced and dirty.

Loved the location in La Punta but it felt run down despite the fact it only opened in May 2024. Private rooms were on the ground floor next to the noisy road and pool area. The shared kitchen was gross and didn't appear to get cleaned. Overall the layout of the hostel didn't lead to much social interaction, and we also discovered our room had bed bugs on our last day. Normally really like Viajero hostels but this one wasn't my favourite.

Vibe Analysis
Viajero Puerto Escondido Hostel is built around a pool-and-bar scene in La Punta, close to the beach, main street, cafes, bars, and restaurants. The social side is the main draw: activities can include free morning yoga, salsa, karaoke, cold plunges, pub crawls, surfing, and dolphin tours. It can land as chill-but-not-boring when the group clicks, with easy solo-traveler energy around the pool and terrace. The rooftop terrace is one of the clearest personality pieces here. It has ocean views and works for yoga, cooking, laptop time, or a slower reset above the louder pool zone. Rooms can be comfortable, with good beds, privacy curtains in dorms, nightly AC, and daily cleaning in better-running periods. The setup also includes a kitchen, coworking-style areas, filtered water, laundry, a bar, and common spaces. Staff energy is mixed: Nico, Tania, Denisse, Estefania, Ivana, and other front-desk or volunteer names stand out positively, while service can also feel distracted or unfriendly depending on the shift.
Signals to check
- Music can be loud through the day and late evening, so this is a weak fit for light sleepers or quiet-trip mode.
- AC is usually limited to night hours, and Puerto heat can make rooms rough during the day.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent, especially around bathrooms, kitchen areas, and sometimes the pool.
- The coworking setup may be too open, hot, noisy, or social for serious calls.
- Wifi, hot water, laundry handling, invoices, and room maintenance have had recurring rough patches.
