It wasn't clean. Very outdated. We were told by the desk clerk that we booked a smoking room. There wasn't a smoking or non-smoking on the website. He said it would cost $60 extra to get a non-smoking room. We told him we would just take the smoking room. He then told us he would help us. If we gave him $30 cash, he would put us in a non-smoking room. We declined. When we got to our room, we noticed there were no ashtrays. The room was very shabby. The curtains were ripped. The room was carpeted, but there was tile in certain areas. It was extremely sticky. The floor in the bathroom was not clean. We didn't use the shower. The water took forever to get slightly warm. The refrigerator didn't close. There were wet towels in the freezer and the refrigerator, and water was leaking. This was a very unsatisfactory one night stay. We did not have the continental breakfast, so we can't review it. When a property isn't clean, you don't want to eat there. In conclusion, we were also upset to look out our window and see stacks of mattresses and box springs stacked in the parking lot. This could have been because of a bedbug infestation, but it was very unsightly. The mattresses in our room were probably new, and they were comfortable.

Vibe Analysis
The indoor tropical garden is the clearest personality here: big live plants, a skylight-style center area, and a small waterfall can make the lobby feel unexpectedly calm, almost New Orleans-meets-motel. The building has vintage bones and a peaceful side when things are working. Rooms can be much larger than expected, with space for a couch, chair, table, fridge, and microwave in some setups. The location is practical for Wichita, with highway access and food options nearby. Staff can be friendly and quick to fix room issues, though service is inconsistent. This is not a polished hostel-style social base. It is an older airport-area property with a weirdly charming central garden and big rooms, but the stay can swing hard depending on room condition, staffing, and which amenities are actually working.
Signals to check
- Cleanliness is a major risk, including dirty bathrooms, stained linens, mold, odors, and poorly cleaned rooms.
- Amenities are unreliable: pool closure, broken TVs, weak breakfast, cold coffee, limited towels, plumbing trouble, and AC issues all appear as recurring problems.
- Some rooms feel worn or damaged, with old furniture, sticky floors, smoke smell, leaks, pests, or maintenance problems.
- Service can be helpful, but it can also be rude, absent, or difficult around check-in, towels, deposits, and room fixes.
- This property is better treated as a cheap, high-risk overnight stop than a social or atmosphere-driven HostelPunk pick.
