Old Town Munkenhof is a cheap, central Tallinn Old Town base for sleeping close to the main sights, the port walk, restaurants, and the old city core. The location is the clear win, and check-in can be straightforward with door codes rather than keys. The hostel has a kitchen, lounge areas, lockers, and a basic old-building setup. Rooms can be clean and functional, with decent bedding in better cases, but comfort varies a lot by room: thin or hard mattresses, joined single beds sold as doubles, hot or cold rooms, weak ventilation, smells, and tired bathrooms all appear in the pattern. Noise is the big tax here. Doors, lockers, corridors, street sound, neighboring rooms, church bells, and late-night partying can make sleep rough, even with earplugs.
