Totally normal, decent hostel - I was a little thrown by the existing reviews being so sharply divided between "best ever!" and terrible, so wanted to add a middle ground. The location is good - just off a main street with bus stops, 5 minute walk to the boardwalk, ~10 minutes to Agya Sofya; there are lots of bars/cafes/restaurants around - building is well insulated for regular street/restaurant noise, but if a nightclub is having a big thumping party, it'll come through. The building itself is a little odd -- feels kind of half empty and half renovated, but all the basics are solid ; effective AC, enough bathrooms; hot water; clean; comfy beds. They've definitely fixed whatever bedbug problem from the reviews a few years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Careful, bedbugs! Our stay was an absolute disaster. We had bedbugs in the entire room, the jetpak team did not at all help us with that, as we were not even allowed to use their washing machine, even though it was in the middle of the night. The German couple who owns the place promised us a refund, which we never got. After we got back home we emailed them repeatedly but they responded that it’s not their problem. Thessaloniki is lovely but stay as far away as possible from this place:)

Bed bugs! After a night with bed bugs we never got our money back – even though the hosts agreed on a reimbursement. Never got an answers on our emails. Really disappointing!

Terrible experience. Our entire room was infested with bed bugs- for quite some time, judging from the smell and marks on the matresses. The owners promised us a refund. To this day (months later) we have not received any money despite many reminders and emails. Would not recommed to stay here if you can avoid.

Jetpak Alternative es una base centrica en Thessaloniki dentro de un edificio antiguo y lleno de caracter, cerca de bares, restaurantes, transporte publico, el waterfront y los principales puntos de la ciudad. Las habitaciones son el gran gancho: dormitorios espaciosos, techos altos, literas amplias, lockers, banos limpios y bastante espacio de piso hacen que se sienta menos comprimido que una bodega estandar de literas. El cafe de la manana es parte del ritmo aqui, y el lugar puede sentirse inusualmente personal. Los anfitriones estan muy presentes con datos de ciudad, conversaciones, pequenos gestos utiles y una bienvenida calida. Katya la perra tambien suele estar cerca, sumando un pequeno nodo de caos hogareno para quien disfruta mascotas de hostel. La terraza del rooftop es una feature real, a veces con gatos, y el lounge/areas comunes sirven para pasar el rato, leer, jugar, ver peliculas o trabajar ligero. El lado social es mixto: puede ser amable y facil de conectar, especialmente cuando esta la gente o voluntarios correctos, pero no es un hostel de actividades programadas y puede sentirse muy tranquilo fuera de temporada. Es un buen match para viajeros que quieren algo centrico, limpio, espacioso, low-key, ligeramente alternativo y llevado por humanos. Es menos ideal para quien necesita silencio, una cocina self-catering totalmente equipada, energia de hotel pulido o circuito social nocturno garantizado.
Señales a revisar
- La ubicacion central queda cerca de bares y clubes, asi que el ruido de calle y el bajo pueden ser un problema real para dormir en algunas habitaciones, especialmente por la noche.
- El ambiente social es inconsistente; puede no haber actividades organizadas y los periodos tranquilos pueden sentirse casi vacios.
- El acceso a cocina y lavanderia puede ser limitado, y las instalaciones para cocinar han sido un punto debil recurrente.
- Algunas areas pueden sentirse inconclusas o en renovacion, con problemas ocasionales de cortinas, iluminacion, sensores de bano, drenaje de ducha o camas crujientes.
- Un problema serio de chinches aparece a comienzos de 2023. Los patrones de limpieza mas recientes son mucho mas fuertes, y el problema antiguo parece haberse arreglado para 2025.
- El hostel tiene una perra en el lugar, algo encantador para algunas personas y no ideal para todos.
