Totally normal, decent hostel - I was a little thrown by the existing reviews being so sharply divided between "best ever!" and terrible, so wanted to add a middle ground. The location is good - just off a main street with bus stops, 5 minute walk to the boardwalk, ~10 minutes to Agya Sofya; there are lots of bars/cafes/restaurants around - building is well insulated for regular street/restaurant noise, but if a nightclub is having a big thumping party, it'll come through. The building itself is a little odd -- feels kind of half empty and half renovated, but all the basics are solid ; effective AC, enough bathrooms; hot water; clean; comfy beds. They've definitely fixed whatever bedbug problem from the reviews a few years ago. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Careful, bedbugs! Our stay was an absolute disaster. We had bedbugs in the entire room, the jetpak team did not at all help us with that, as we were not even allowed to use their washing machine, even though it was in the middle of the night. The German couple who owns the place promised us a refund, which we never got. After we got back home we emailed them repeatedly but they responded that it’s not their problem. Thessaloniki is lovely but stay as far away as possible from this place:)

Bed bugs! After a night with bed bugs we never got our money back – even though the hosts agreed on a reimbursement. Never got an answers on our emails. Really disappointing!

Terrible experience. Our entire room was infested with bed bugs- for quite some time, judging from the smell and marks on the matresses. The owners promised us a refund. To this day (months later) we have not received any money despite many reminders and emails. Would not recommed to stay here if you can avoid.

Jetpak Alternative è una base centrale a Salonicco dentro un edificio antico e pieno di carattere, vicino a bar, ristoranti, trasporti pubblici, waterfront e principali cose da vedere in città. Le camere sono il grande richiamo: dorm spaziosi, soffitti alti, letti a castello ampi, armadietti, bagni puliti e molto spazio a terra lo fanno sentire meno compresso del classico magazzino di cuccette. Il caffè del mattino fa parte del ritmo qui, e il posto può sembrare insolitamente personale. Gli host sono presenti con dritte sulla città, conversazioni, piccoli gesti utili e un'accoglienza calda. Anche Katya la cagnolina è spesso in giro, aggiungendo un piccolo nodo di caos domestico per chi ama gli animali da ostello. La terrazza sul tetto è una vera feature, a volte con gatti, e lounge/aree comuni funzionano per stare in giro, leggere, giocare, guardare film o lavorare leggero. Il lato social è misto: può essere amichevole e facile connettersi, soprattutto quando c'è il gruppo giusto o volontari in giro, ma non è un ostello con attività programmate e fuori stagione può sembrare molto quieto. È una buona scelta per chi vuole qualcosa di centrale, pulito, spazioso, low-key, un po' alternative e gestito da persone vere. Meno ideale per chi ha bisogno di silenzio, una cucina self-catering completa, energia da hotel lucidissimo o circuiti social garantiti ogni sera.
Segnali da controllare
- La posizione centrale è vicino a bar e club, quindi rumore di strada e bassi possono essere un vero problema per dormire in alcune camere, soprattutto di notte.
- L'atmosfera social è incostante; potrebbero non esserci attività organizzate e i periodi tranquilli possono sembrare quasi vuoti.
- Accesso a cucina e lavanderia può essere limitato, e le strutture per cucinare sono state un punto debole ricorrente.
- Alcune aree possono sembrare incompiute o in ristrutturazione, con problemi occasionali di tende, illuminazione, sensori dei bagni, scarico doccia o letti che scricchiolano.
- Un serio problema di cimici dei letti compare a inizio 2023. I segnali più recenti sulla pulizia sono molto più forti, e il vecchio problema sembra risolto entro il 2025.
- L'ostello ha un cane in struttura, cosa adorabile per alcuni e non ideale per tutti.
