Great place, beautiful atmosphere, however BED BUGS here! I told the staff but they didn't get rid of them! Please take action Mundo Nuevo!!!!

It is a nice hostel-like lodge in the green mountains near Santa Marta. The forrest path up to the lodge from Minca is extremely bad and only accessible on foot (1 hr up hill), or with an expensive 4x4, or on the back of an uncomfortable motor bike. The lodge has great views to the surrounding mountains and valleys and offers a beautiful sunset from the terraces around the heated pool. Our room was OK, although a bit noisy, and the mattresses were extremely hard. We did not mind the ants, spiders and other bugs in our room, because that is what you can expect in a lodge in the jungle. I did however mind the bedbugs that feasted on me during the nights. Apart from the nuisance and itch during the nights and days, we had to make sure that the bed bugs would not infest our home once we unpacked at home. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, and most of the food was good and tasteful. The surroundings are nice. Do go to the next door coffee and cacao farm for a tour. Go to some waterfalls. The Marinka waterfalls are very nice.

Dirty place with a bed bugs, small rooms, 1 toilet, very far away from the city, unplasent stuff. It's a hotel not Hostel. Only good thing about the place is an autstending view. Cold weather in the shower for this money??!! Avoid at all costs.

Dirty place, full of insects. I had bed bugs in my bed, aldow I had net in place and was covered something bitten me all the night. It is 1h of a jeep ride from the town and the cost of it is 80000cop. They do not allow you to prepare your food or have your alcohol derfore it's not a Hostel but a Hotel. You need to aplly to strict and very inconvenient hours of meels wich are 7:30-9;13:00;19:00 sharp. Throw its clearly their folt to have insects and bed bugs they charged me for 2 nights aldow I stayed only one because I was sick of the place. In night it is cold and the the shower is even colder. There is only one bathroom and one shower for all the dorms. Dorm is extremely small in the room wich should be 4 beds there are 8. Terrible place. I wonder how it happened that it had a good notes. La piscina infinita en la cima del cerro es el evento principal: vistas amplias a la montaña y a Santa Marta, energía grande de atardecer y suficiente espacio tranquilo alrededor del lodge para pasar días enteros leyendo, nadando, estirándose en hamacas o haciendo muy poco a propósito. Mundo Nuevo Eco Lodge se siente más como un retiro tranquilo en la naturaleza que como un party hostel, con habitaciones limpias, duchas calientes en al menos algunos setups de dormitorio, camas cómodas y un entorno que hace que la subida valga la pena. Las comidas son una parte real de la estadía. No hay cocina compartida, así que desayuno, almuerzo y cena pasan en el sitio, a menudo en horarios fijos y alrededor de mesas compartidas. La comida suele ser vegetariana, con buenas porciones, cocina fresca estilo finca y extras ocasionales como huevos o carne. El ritmo de cena compartida vuelve el lugar social sin ponerlo ruidoso; suele quedar tranquilo después de cenar. La ubicación funciona mejor para quedarse ahí o usar el lodge como base lenta para naturaleza cercana. Caminatas a fincas de café y cacao, avistamiento de aves, yoga, senderos, cascadas, una aldea indígena cercana, muchas aves, mariposas y el tucán ocasional encajan con la escena. El staff suele ser cálido y presente, con servicio que recuerda nombres y bastante ayuda para organizar la pequeña logística que importa arriba en los cerros.
Señales a revisar
- El lodge está fuera del pueblo de Minca y normalmente necesita mototaxi o 4x4 por una carretera empinada; ir y volver puede sumar costo y fricción.
- No hay cocina compartida, así que planifica comer en el lugar. Las comidas pueden sentirse caras y la cena puede tener pocas opciones.
- Es un lugar tranquilo y de noche temprana, no una base de fiesta.
- La casita puede ser una opción más débil si necesitas energía confiable; los cortes de luz han sido un problema ahí.
- Algunos básicos pueden variar según habitación o momento, incluyendo espacio en dormitorios, comodidad del colchón, iluminación nocturna y calidez del servicio.
