Got home with a skin rash from the beds. Not sure if it was bed bugs or something else.

I was bitten by fleas or bed bugs on several parts of my body. I have traveled to more than 60 countries, and this is only the second time this has happened. The first incident occurred in Africa, and I definitely did not expect this to happen in Helsinki.

On my last stay, during the first night, I woke up around 7 a.m. with my feet very itchy and uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep even though I went to bed after midnight. Later, I realized I had many bed bug bites, more than 40 on both feet. It was very uncomfortable, and I had to use Aquaphor cream for about two weeks. I told the staff that morning; they were kind and tried to help, but I had to wait until after 11 a.m. to change rooms. Also, the hostel is on the third floor with no elevator, which makes it hard to carry luggage.

Bed bugs!! On checkout you must strip your bed and I found a bed bug! No room in dorm to put your bags, only a tiny locker for passport etc, noisy being right next to the bathrooms, I stayed at yard hostel which was much nicer.

Analyse de l'ambiance
Un batiment helsinkien du XIXe siecle donne a Apartment by Hostel Diana Park sa principale personnalite : charme de vieille maison, details d'epoque et emplacement central qui met la ville, la gare, les restaurants, supermarches et la mer a portee facile. A l'interieur, les parties les plus fortes sont pratiques et discretes : personnel amical 24h/24, installation propre, lits confortables dans au moins certaines chambres, consigne a bagages et espace cuisine-salle a manger qui fonctionne bien pour cuisiner. L'espace commun peut sembler cosy, avec de petites touches comme un coin seconde main, des cartes locales et un puzzle d'Helsinki. C'est plus un crashpad tranquille qu'une auberge sociale. Ca peut convenir a un court sejour a Helsinki ou l'emplacement, la proprete et un joli vieux batiment comptent plus que les evenements, la nightlife ou un grand espace de vie.
Signaux à vérifier
- L'auberge est a l'etage dans un vieux batiment sans ascenseur, donc les gros bagages peuvent etre penibles.
- Les salles de bain sont un point faible recurrent : elles peuvent etre minuscules, limitees, froides, malodorantes ou occupees aux heures de pointe.
- La cuisine ferme a 23:00, et il peut ne plus y avoir d'espace de vie utilisable apres cela.
- L'intimite en dortoir varie ; certaines couchettes n'ont pas de rideaux, et le placement en chambre mixte peut ne pas correspondre aux attentes.
- Le bruit peut circuler dans le vieux batiment, les couchettes peuvent grincer, et les chambres d'ete peuvent devenir chaudes sans ventilation forte.
- Il existe de serieuses inquietudes de proprete autour de possibles punaises de lit ou puces dans un petit nombre de sejours recents.
