I was bitten by fleas or bed bugs on several parts of my body. I have traveled to more than 60 countries, and this is only the second time this has happened. The first incident occurred in Africa, and I definitely did not expect this to happen in Helsinki.

I really liked Hostel Diana Park. I stayed there three times because it’s in the center of Helsinki, very convenient and walking distance to everything. The staff were always super nice, friendly, and helpful. The hostel felt cozy and clean. On my last stay, during the first night, I woke up around 7 a.m. with my feet very itchy and uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep even though I went to bed after midnight. Later, I realized I had many bed bug bites, more than 40 on both feet. It was very uncomfortable, and I had to use Aquaphor cream for about two weeks. I told the staff that morning; they were kind and tried to help, but I had to wait until after 11 a.m. to change rooms. Also, the hostel is on the third floor with no elevator, which makes it hard to carry luggage.

Very friendly staff,good wifi, seems to have a social atmosphere. Bed bugs!! On checkout you must strip your bed and I found a bed bug! No room in dorm to put your bags, only a tiny locker for passport etc, noisy being right next to the bathrooms, I stayed at yard hostel which was much nicer.

Een 19e-eeuws Helsinki-gebouw geeft Apartment by Hostel Diana Park zijn hoofdpersonality: oude-huis charme, historische details en een centrale locatie die stad, treinstation, restaurants, supermarkten en zee binnen makkelijk bereik zet. Binnen zijn de sterkste delen praktisch en low-key: vriendelijke 24/7 staff, een schone setup, comfortabele bedden in minstens sommige kamers, bagageopslag en een keuken-eetgedeelte dat goed werkt om te koken. De common space kan knus voelen, met kleine touches zoals een tweedehands hoek, lokale kaarten en een Helsinki-puzzel. Dit is meer rustige crashpad dan sociale hostel. Het kan passen bij een kort Helsinki-verblijf waar locatie, schoonmaak en een mooi oud gebouw belangrijker zijn dan events, nightlife of een grote hangoutscene.
Signalen om te checken
- Het hostel zit boven in een oud gebouw zonder lift, dus zware bagage kan onhandig zijn.
- Badkamers zijn een terugkerend zwak punt: ze kunnen piepklein, beperkt, koud, stinkend of druk op piekmomenten zijn.
- De keuken sluit om 23:00, en daarna is er mogelijk geen bruikbare hangoutruimte.
- Dormprivacy wisselt; sommige stapelbedden hebben geen gordijnen, en gemengde kamerplaatsing kan niet overeenkomen met verwachtingen.
- Geluid kan door het oude gebouw reizen, stapelbedden kunnen piepen, en zomerkamers kunnen heet worden zonder sterke ventilatie.
- Er zijn serieuze schoonmaakzorgen rond mogelijke bedwantsen of vlooien in een klein aantal recente verblijven.
