Stayed at Zephyr Lodge and left very disappointed. The tab system felt untrustworthy —others were charged for things they didn’t order. Staff were rude and unprofessional, even blaming my friend for their own order mistake and trying to get him to pay extra. Room had bed bugs. Food was poor and overpriced. Also, they charge for return shuttle (100Q on card if no cash). Only positive was the Semuc tour, but bring your own food. There are far better options closer to Semuc.

WARNING BED BUGS!!! They have been dealing with many complaints of bed bugs and will not fix the problem. Do not come here, you will have bed bugs in all of your luggage and clothes guaranteed. Book somewhere else.

The hostel is pretty cool with a nice view and nice pool. But WE GOT BEDBUGS. And it seems like they have had a problem withe BEDBUGS prior to out visit. So be aware!

The only positive thing about this place is its views. I left covered in bed bug bites and with serious food poisoning. The service, food and facilities are also below average. If you want to be constantly locked out of your room, waiting 40+ mins for mediocre overpriced food, and stuck without wifi then stay here, otherwise stay elsewhere.

DO NOT STAY! For the entirety of our stay we were mistreated by the staff who made us feel every thing but welcome! The bed bugs were a big issue and never wanted to be addressed. The staff were unapproachable and didn’t want to answer any general questions we had. Very disappointed and never returning. Can’t stress enough DO NOT STAY HERE

Amazing place and no bedbugs but staff where not friendly at all. We were in a group of four with three of us bringing our own packaged food for the entire stay in lanquin and Semuc Champey and one who ate food in Semuc Champey (not zephyr). We did not get sick and our friend who ate in lanquin did get sick. I would avoid eating in the whole of lanquin and Semuc Champey completely (filtered water was fine).

Wonderful views, a lovely pool and hot tub, and a raucous bar. However, there were several downsides. Bedbugs were ignored by the generally disinterested staff, 8 of 10 people in my group had terrible food poisoning from the food here, and I couldn't help but feel the place was set up to rinse backpackers of every quetzal. Perhaps we visited during an unfortunate 3 day period but overall we left Lanquin gutted that Zephyr could have been so much more. Read their responses to reviews on Trip advisor for a laugh (and an example of how to not be professional). I stayed in El Retiro 8 years ago and they knew how to treat visitors with warmth and kindness. X

Análise do ambiente
A piscina e a hidromassagem com vista para o vale e a selva sao o evento principal no Zephyr Lodge. E o tipo de setup em que a paisagem faz boa parte do trabalho: areas comuns abertas, um bar junto a agua, mesa de sinuca e vistas enormes de Lanquin tornam facil ficar por ali o dia todo. O tour de Semuc Champey e outra forca clara, com guias divertidos e bom acesso as cavernas, piscinas e passeios locais. Tipsy tubing tambem pode ser divertido, embora a organizacao dos tours possa ser irregular, entao vale checar detalhes antes de montar o dia em torno disso. A cena social puxa jovem, bebada e as vezes totalmente barulhenta de party hostel. A musica pode ir ate tarde e ficar intensa o bastante para dificultar conversar, comer ou dormir, entao funciona melhor para viajantes que querem drinks na piscina e caos noturno do que para quem busca recuperacao tranquila na selva. A troca e que o Zephyr pode parecer caro e controlado para um lugar mochileiro. Nao ha cozinha compartilhada, comida de fora pode nao ser permitida, e o restaurante vira a opcao padrao apesar da qualidade irregular e precos mais altos. Os quartos vao de decentes a cansados, com problemas repetidos de calor, camas duras, Wi-Fi fraco, pouca cortina de privacidade, insetos ou roedores e quartos privados sem refrigeracao adequada.

- Nao e uma boa escolha para noites quietas; musica alta pode ir ate tarde.
- Comida, bebidas, lavanderia, transporte, toalhas e pagamentos com cartao podem somar rapido.
- Sem cozinha compartilhada, e comida de fora pode ser restrita.
- Higiene de comida ou agua pode ser um risco.
- Staff e gestao podem ser hit-or-miss, com algumas preocupacoes serias de seguranca e atitude.
- Alguns quartos podem ser quentes, basicos, datados ou com pouca privacidade.
