For phone data at IST, physical SIMs are available from airport carrier counters, but the clean official rule is carrier-by-carrier. SAW is the Asian-side airport and is open 24 hours. Checked August 2026: Metro Istanbul documents the M4 Kadikoy-Sabiha Gokcen Airport line as 23 stations, 52 minutes one way, 06:00-00:00, with 5-minute peak frequency on the official M4 line page. Use Ayrilik Cesmesi for Marmaray to Sirkeci or Yenikapi, Unalan for Metrobus, and Kadikoy for ferries and Kadikoy-Moda hostels. Pay for M4 with Istanbulkart, a limited-pass ticket, Istanbul City Card, or contactless bank card under the official Istanbul Card guide.
Havabus is the useful road option when you want Taksim or Kadikoy without metro transfers. The airport says Havabus serves Taksim-Sabiha Gokcen and Kadikoy-Sabiha Gokcen from 2026-01-01 on its Airport Transport page. Checked August 2026, the Havabus timetable showed SAW-to-Taksim departures every 30 minutes from 06:30 through 01:30, plus delayed-plane departures between 01:00 and 04:00. Walking from SAW to Kadikoy, Taksim, or Sultanahmet is not a city-arrival plan. Phone, data, and money on arrival

Bakirkoy Railway Station to Istanbul

Use Bakirkoy when it puts you closer to the Marmaray corridor than Halkali.
