unfortunately we got bed bugs there, we slept in the 25 ppl dorm. apart from that it was nice, the party is fun, the atmosphere is nice, you get to meet many people, it's very social. although everything is quite expensive and there's not much to do next to partying and tubing. I would recommend coming for one party night and leave the next morning to a beach place in buritaca

Sadly we got bedbugs, reception changed our room after us saying we didn’t want to sleep in the room anymore but didn’t offer to do laundry or money off or anything. No point coming here unless you want to party. Party was good but would have been better if they played different types of music. Food was good but the breakfast wasn’t that nice. Facilities were good and most of the staff were nice. Beds were super comfy minus the bed bugs. Toilets and showers were clean. WiFi was rubbish though.

Most fun party hostel we stayed at in Latin America - very expensive though and not that clean, keep an eye out for bed bugs. Staff very nice, Hamish and Tim were helpful and looked after us. Would recommend no more than 2-3 nights

Good social vibe if you want to party. Music is on loud until late and the dorms are all outside so you can hear everything. Pretty sure they also gave me bed bugs but all the sheets are dark so it makes it hard to tell (had bites appear 2 days after so not 100%) but didn’t feel like the cleanest of places.

Rio Hostel Buritaca sits in a jungle-river setting with swimming, volleyball, pool, plenty of hangout space, and an activity menu that may include community volunteering, hikes, yoga, massages, paintball, Tayrona trips, and waterfall plans. This is a party-first place, especially around Thursday, Sunday, and other bigger event nights. The crowd skews international and social, with a lot of electronic music, easy friend-making, and a festival-ish setup where the hostel can feel more like a contained adult summer camp than a quiet backpacker base. Food is a major part of the setup because the hostel is remote and there is no shared kitchen. The on-site restaurant, bakery, pizza bar, and cafe can be genuinely good, with pizza and baked goods standing out, but prices are often high for the area and outside food may be restricted. Rooms and comfort are uneven. Some beds have mosquito nets and some dorms have fans or AC, but heat, humidity, weak showers, limited privacy, basic dorms, and occasional cleanliness problems can drag down the stay. Come for river chaos, parties, and social density; choose somewhere else for sleep, budget control, reliable Wi-Fi, or a calm Colombian beach-town feel.
