Free tea and coffee, seemed relatively clean. Was nice to have a balcony with a rack to dry clothes. Bedbugs. Only hostel in my travels that gave us bedbug bites, and a lot of them. (Due to bite placement I think it was the blankets). The hostel is chill as there's no real communal area except for outside, but the room was super noisy because the patio door let a lot of noise in from a live music bar close by. There also seems to be nobody on site staff wise, so a few guys tripping in the dorm opposite were able to scream and run in the hallways for a few hours. Reception is pretty much non-existent and wasn't helpful in helping us book a taxi/onwards travel. Seemed pretty annoyed we were interrupting his gaming the few times we tried so we just asked elsewhere. I left early morning but nobody mans reception at night/early morning so be aware of that for deposits. Luckily my friend was leaving a couple hours later so I left her with my key to check out.

DKaYa Hostel es una base pequena y limpia en Khao Lak cerca de Bang Niang Market, 7-Eleven, restaurantes, el Tsunami Museum y una playa caminable. Funciona mejor para dias sin drama: dormir, comida de mercado, vueltas en scooter, tours a islas, Muay Thai y luego volver a una habitacion tranquila. Lo practico supera a lo fiestero. Hay agua, te, cafe y snacks pequenos gratis, ademas de nevera, microondas, utensilios, toallas, articulos de aseo y a menudo balcon o tendedero. El arriendo de scooter y reservas de tours pueden estar disponibles a traves del hostel, y el staff puede ayudar mucho por WhatsApp. La atmosfera es tranquila y socialmente hit-or-miss. Con solo un par de dormitorios y una pequena zona exterior/comun, puede volverse amigable cuando aparece la mezcla correcta, pero no esta construido alrededor de eventos ni gran caos backpacker.
Señales a revisar
- Los dormitorios pueden sentirse estrechos, y muchas literas tienen poca o ninguna cortina de privacidad.
- Las camas suelen ser firmes, a veces extremadamente duras.
- La recepcion no siempre tiene personal, asi que check-in y preguntas pueden necesitar WhatsApp.
- Ruido de musica cercana, banos tipo wet-room, problemas ocasionales de agua o Wi-Fi y casos aislados de limpieza pueden ocurrir.
