Bedbugs. Only hostel in my travels that gave us bedbug bites, and a lot of them. (Due to bite placement I think it was the blankets). The hostel is chill as there's no real communal area except for outside, but the room was super noisy because the patio door let a lot of noise in from a live music bar close by. There also seems to be nobody on site staff wise, so a few guys tripping in the dorm opposite were able to scream and run in the hallways for a few hours. Reception is pretty much non-existent and wasn't helpful in helping us book a taxi/onwards travel. Seemed pretty annoyed we were interrupting his gaming the few times we tried so we just asked elsewhere. I left early morning but nobody mans reception at night/early morning so be aware of that for deposits. Luckily my friend was leaving a couple hours later so I left her with my key to check out.

Analisi dell'atmosfera
DKaYa Hostel è una piccola base pulita a Khao Lak vicino a Bang Niang Market, 7-Eleven, ristoranti, Tsunami Museum e una spiaggia raggiungibile a piedi. Funziona meglio per giornate a basso dramma: dormire, cibo al mercato, giri in scooter, tour alle isole, Muay Thai, poi ritorno in una camera tranquilla. Le parti pratiche sono migliori delle parti party. Ci sono acqua, tè, caffè e piccoli snack gratis, più frigo, microonde, utensili, asciugamani, toiletries e spesso balcone o stendino. Noleggio scooter e prenotazione tour possono essere disponibili tramite l'ostello, e lo staff può essere molto utile via WhatsApp. L'atmosfera è calma e socialmente hit-or-miss. Con solo un paio di dormitori e una piccola area esterna/comune, può diventare amichevole quando c'è il mix giusto, ma non è costruito intorno a eventi o grande caos backpacker.

- I dormitori possono sembrare stretti, e molti letti hanno poca o nessuna tenda privacy.
- I letti sono spesso rigidi, a volte estremamente duri.
- La reception non è sempre presidiata, quindi check-in e domande possono richiedere WhatsApp.
- Sono possibili rumore da musica vicina, bagni wet-room, problemi occasionali di acqua o Wi-Fi e casi isolati di pulizia carente.
