Sooo I was only there for one night and I came late, but it was really hard to communicate with the security guard, since he did not speak a word English. He still tried his best to explain though and the man at the checkout was really nice. The rooms are kind of clean, I saw some bug in the bed though. The toilets and showers however are really not good. no sign of soap and pretty s**t toilets overall. The building where everything was seemed kinda shady, too. For one night ok, nothing more tho

WORST NIGHT OF MY LIFE! BED BUGS! À FUIR I hate commenting but I have to! I don't recommend this youth hostel at all! I was staying there in July during the theatre festival and it was horrible. The location is amazing, but you pay 60 euros for a 8 m2 room and you get a small sticky room with dirty draft sheets. On top of that, my whole body was itching the wohle night and and I had many red spots "blessures" all over my body. They said that the travelers bring the bed bugs, it is not their fault. Avignon was my first travel destination this month so there is something not matching! They promised to block the room and they did not, the bed was made and given to people the same day as I got told later. On top of that one of my friends who was also staying in this hostel had the same problem a few days later. Now I am back home for a few weeks and I still have those bed bugs and I will now have to pay a lot of money to get them all killed with some expensive, very unhealthy chemics! Don't do that to yourself! Go camping, the camping place is amazing, the youth hostel very much the opposite!

Auberge Bagatelle's sterkste kaart is zijn Avignon-setting: op Ile de la Barthelasse aan de Rhone, dichtbij genoeg om over de brug de oude stad in te lopen, met paden langs de rivier en uitzichten richting Palais des Papes. Het schaduwrijke terras en de grote bomen kunnen het tijdens festivalhitte koeler en rustiger laten voelen dan het centrum. Dit is een simpele, old-school auberge/camping setup, geen gepolijste backpackerhub. Het werkt het best als praktische basis voor Avignon, schoolgroepen, trainingssessies, fietsers op de ViaRhona of festivaltrips waar locatie en prijs belangrijker zijn dan strakke kamers. Eten en service zijn wisselend maar kunnen een echte plus zijn. Groepsmaaltijden, vegetarische opties, picknickformules, ontbijt op het terras en warme hulp van Christine, Andre, Celine en het serviceteam verschijnen allemaal als bright spots. De sociale scene lijkt meer toevallig dan ontworpen: een terras, gemengd publiek en groepsenergie in plaats van georganiseerde hostelrituelen.

- Dorms en kamers kunnen gedateerd, donker, heet, slecht geventileerd en schaars in stopcontacten zijn.
- Wi-Fi kan extra kosten of niet beschikbaar zijn in het hostelgebouw, en er is mogelijk geen bruikbare keuken of kluisjes.
- Schoonmaak is inconsistent, met ernstige klachten over badkamers, beddengoed, insecten, schimmel en algemeen onderhoud.
