Bed bugs. After we checked in, we felt something strange in the air in the hallway (our throats got dry + strong nauseous feeling). When we asked one of the guy in our room about it, he told us that the hostel was treating one of the room for bed bugs - apparently brought the day before by a woman who left in the morning. In the evening, we saw bed bugs on the wall and in the beds of the room we were staying in ! One of us even got some on his clothes ! We changed room at 2am and the staff asked us to leave our stuff in the old room, while they sprayed the product to kill the bugs. They asked us to give them the clothes that were outside our backpacks so they can wash them. The hostel knew about the situation and didn’t warn us about it when we checked in. They didn’t even look sorry about it. This morning they brought back our clothes unwashed ! Hopefully we noticed it before putting them back in our luggage ! Don’t go there !

I've booked a 6 bed and was put in a 7 bed room. Last day they were working on removing bed bugs.

Vibe Analysis
Estoril is a central Buenos Aires classic with old-building scale: big rooms, balconies, patios, kitchen access, and Avenida de Mayo energy right outside. The good stays lean on location, helpful reception, clean shared spaces, and a building with enough corners to work, cook, recover, or plan the next city mission. The vibe is not one clean label. It can be friendly and easy enough for solo travelers, with staff pointing people toward city activities, but it also has a quieter, practical side: a central base more than a nonstop party lab. If you want downtown access, subways nearby, and a big old hostel shell, this one has the raw material. The same centrality brings noise, and the old shell has maintenance variance. Street-facing rooms, common-area sound, kitchen wear, and cleaning issues all show up. Best fit: travelers who value location and character, and can tolerate some Buenos Aires decibels doing their tiny drum solo.
Signals to check
- Street and common-area noise can be a real sleep problem.
- Cleaning and maintenance are inconsistent in some rooms and shared areas.
- Aggressive behavior and drug activity are serious isolated risks.
