When I woke up in the morning I noticed what I'm almost certain is bed bugs crawling around on my sheet so please be careful if you are staying there in the near future. Aside from that one major issue the place was generally nice and the rest of my experience there was positive.

12 days in Sicilia and the worst experience. No soap in the bathroom, dirty bedsheets,broken toilets, disgusting smell in the toilets. When I asked to refill the soap distributor, I was told to wait until the following morning! One night there was far enough. Let's hope that I did not come back with bed bugs! Only positive point is the good location near the city center. We could park near the railway station at no cost. It us such a pity that hygiene is no good and that ni breakfast is proposed.

overall good hostel and really good vibe - a lot of the workers are volunteers as they travel themselves. however I got bed bugs and a scorpion crawled out of the bathroom sink so do with those what you'd like.

Vibe Analysis
LoLHostel Siracusa is built for practical Siracusa logistics: it sits about 1-2 minutes from the train and bus stations, with Ortigia usually around a 10-20 minute walk away. That makes it a handy base for day trips, beach buses, and getting in or out without dragging bags across town. The dorm setup has real backpacker utility: curtains on beds, individual lights and plugs, USB-A and USB-C ports in some rooms, lockers with keys, clean linen, and towels included. Some dorms have ensuite bathrooms, and larger rooms can feel surprisingly airy, with loft-style corners or mezzanine layouts giving a bit more privacy than a plain bunk hall. There is a large common area, a kitchen with fridges and cooking gear, a terrace or patio, and a bar with reasonably priced drinks at times. Staff are usually a strength, especially for city tips and help with transport or local plans. The mood is more quiet and functional than high-voltage social, though the bar, terrace, and common areas can still make it possible to meet people when the place has the right crowd.

- Not the safest bet for a big social scene; it can feel quiet, dull, or group-heavy.
- Cleanliness and maintenance are uneven, especially kitchens, bathrooms, mold or drain smells, broken fixtures, and older mattresses.
- AC and room temperature can be inconsistent, especially in high-ceiling or older rooms.
- Some rooms have tight bathroom sharing, confusing bed and locker assignment, or limited space for bags and hanging clothes.
- Own alcohol may not be allowed, and Wi-Fi may be weak outside common areas.
