Last night I got BEDBUGS here, be careful. The staff handled it really well and were very friendly!

  2. Confirmed Booking.com

Unfortunately, I was bitten by bed bugs two nights in a row while staying here.

Although I don’t like writing this—since when I do write reviews, they’re usually positive—unfortunately this time I have to make an exception. As sometimes happens when traveling, this hostel had BEDBUGS. It really made the following week of my trip unpleasant. Of course, I reported it to the reception the very next morning. They refunded my accommodation, but unfortunately that doesn’t cover the additional costs for laundromats and pest control… The staff were kind; however, the mattress (at least mine) was in catastrophic condition, and I think the bedbugs had been there for quite some time. There were a lot of them. I believe this can happen in any hostel, but before you check in, make sure to thoroughly inspect the mattress you’ll be sleeping on.

Vibe Analysis

Supertramp works best as an Aguas Calientes launchpad: close enough for Machu Picchu logistics, with free tea, luggage storage, some helpful staff moments, and a lounge/bar setup that can feel convenient when the only mission is sleep, shower, mountain, repeat. It is more practical checkpoint than dream hostel. The mood is mixed. A few stays find the staff kind or the place good enough for one night, but the stronger pattern is basic, loud, and worn. It can make sense if you need a short stop before the ruins and you are optimizing for location over comfort. Do not expect polished social magic. Damp smells, bathroom ventilation, cold showers, weak Wi-Fi, noise, and cleanliness issues show up repeatedly. This is a tactical base camp, not a soft landing spa with bunk beds.
