Location. The staff was kind, spoke english, but incapable. Before falling asleep i noticed something crawling next to my pillow. Without a single doubt i knew it wad bedbugs. I woke up my roommates and went to the reception, told the receptionist to see our room. Together me and my roommates found multiple bedbugs in our beds. The receptionist gave us another room, but it was very hard to trust that place. There apparently nothing she could do now and that someone responsible will come to the hostel in the morning. Fortunately, after thorough ispection we did not find any bedbugs in that room and if we did, I don’t know what would we do, because the receptionist disappeared without saying anything. In the morning we went back to the reception, there was nobody responsible, just another receptionist. At least she was informed about our situation and after we asked she allowed us to wash our potentionally infested clothes in the hostel’s private laundry room with the words “customers normally have to pay for this, but we will let you for free”. I asked whether we can get a refund for our experience and she said she does not know. I asked whether there is someone superior she can contact and she said she will ask the boss, who according to her words is “the church”. We did not hear about he boss’s reply or whether he was even asked. That is where the incentive to fix this situation ended. We had to leave soon after our clothes got washed.

Vibe Analysis
Hostel Louna is a plain, old-building base in central Pärnu, close to the old town, bus station, parks, restaurants, and the beach. It works best as a simple place to sleep rather than a social hostel: quiet is a common theme, and the atmosphere can feel oddly institutional instead of backpacker-buzzy. Single beds rather than bunks appear in at least part of the dorm setup, which is useful if bunk beds are not your thing. Rooms and hallways can be spacious, towels may be included, Wi-Fi works well, and a kitchen is available, though the equipment can be patchy. Laundry may also be available. This is not a polished place. The building and shared spaces can feel old, worn, dark, and overdue for upgrades. Staff can be friendly and helpful, but late check-in and front desk handling may be uneven. Breakfast is a gamble: it can be simple and homey, but it can also feel too basic for the extra cost.
Signals to check
- Dorms are mixed, and the social scene seems very thin.
- Street-facing rooms can be noisy, especially when windows are open in hot weather.
- Shared bathrooms and showers may feel dated, worn, or not clean enough.
- Beds and pillows can be uncomfortable.
- Breakfast may not be worth adding.
- Luggage storage after checkout may mean leaving bags in an unsupervised corridor.
- A 2025 dorm stay had bedbugs; treat shared rooms with caution.
